Anybody ever have the flywheel off or slid it to adjust end play?
If some Bubba guessed on the torque. The flywheel could be loose from under tightening or over tightening which stretches the bolts.

Im not sure I got it winter of 2012 it had been sitting for many years. I got it running and drove it around the farm some and used it to put out hay. this all started when i used it last summer to pull a v rake. I parked it and finally got around to putting it all back together yesterday. The fly wheel doesnt feel like it has play either way and nothing looks loose. I pulled inspection cover and rods look fine

Was the clutch driver tight on the splines of the crankshaft? If this is worn it can make quite a loud knock. A good tight clutch driver will be about 1/4" out from the end of the crankshaft when tightened down. If it's less than that, most likely the driver and crankshaft are worn.

Or, you might have eaten a choke or throttle plate screw. That will make a heck of a knock. Our 730LP did that.

(quoted from post at 15:55:00 08/10/14) I just checked and i did not line the marks up on the crank and driver. Would this cause a knocking noise?

Are you trying to guess this thing together without a service manual?
1-800-522-7448 will save a lot of time and money.
A few sentences on the internet ca not replace several pages of test and images in the JD manual.
