Is anyone on this board familiar with the John Deere Crawler site, jdcrawlers? I registered a couple of days ago and waiting for a confirmation on my registration. I get this message:
"Your account is currently inactive, the administrator of the board will need to activate it before you can log in. You will receive another email when this has occured." How long does it usually take to get confirmed?
John Deere Crawlers

Usually doesn't take over a day but like dan said lavoy might be on vacation or on a trip to pick up some more crawlers

Watch what you say over there. The owner can get very angry if you state some facts the owner does not agree with. Right Lavoy?

may take a little time, but it is well worth it. when i got my new to me 40C almost two years ago, i used the couple days it took to comb over my crawlers casting #"s and measure up things that i was going to research so i would be ready when i got activated. great resource for JD crawlers.

Thanks for the info. I have a friend with Leukemia that is selling off a lot of his stuff so that his family doesn't have to deal with it. He isn't a collector, more of a historian. He has a lot of local artifacts that people were going to trash over the years but he saved them. He keeps his stuff covered and running. He has a 1947 JD Model 40, 5 roller, gasoline engine, 2 cylinder, with Gearmatic winch model 8A , with Shawnee loader. The engine runs well, but the under carriage is worn. Since you have a 40 what do you think this crawler would be worth with, with the winch and loader? I will post it in Photo Ads here when we hear from owners like you. We are in BC and not sure what the market would be like. I was asking about a price on his grader and I got a verbal whoppin for talking about it on outside of the classifieds, but I can't post it until we get an idea what it is worth. Sorry if people get offended, but I don't know any other way to get a ball park figure.

First off, that tractor is a '54 or 55. They did not make a 5 roller until '54. As to value, with early crawlers, you buy undercarriange, everything else is easily replaced. I have had three of these, two 40s and an early 420. I presently have a nice '54 4 roll machine. My first one was a 5 roll machine with a very heavy loader on it. My experience is that many of these were overloaded and overworked. The winch is nice, if it works, but parts can be pricy. I have one that I took off my first 40C that needs work. Without seeing it and an off the top of my head value, I would say $2500.

I sold this one for $2500

I kept the green one in the middle.

Thanks. You have given me a lot of confidence on a price for his
crawler. I'm going to post it in the photo ads today.
