Where is that sound coming from?

I have a question for John Deere 2 cylinder owners. When the clutch is released, I hear a sound like a running dry bearing. Is that what i am hearing? Also the noise is not there when the clutch is engaged. Any help would be appreicated. Thanks Tim

Yes that is when the pulley bearing is working,, and it sounds like yours is asking for grease...this is one of the reasons for shifting to nutrel and latching the clutch in when idling...

Don't forget to tell the OP that the clutch plates scuffing past each other while the pulley is stopped DO make a certain amount of noise.

(Even when all is WELL!)
