4640 vs. 4840

Are there any differences in the drive trains of a 4640 vs. a 4840? It appears the only differences may be in the fuel injections system and that all 4840s are power shifts.

Will a 740 loader mount on a 4840 with the same mounts as a 4640?

You seem to be getting a lot of answers to a question you didn't ask.
I went to the 4640-4840 transmission/ rear end section of jdparts.com and glanced at a few things like the pinion etc. and they were the same for both tractors. I didn't take the time to look at every part in the drive train. Most likely someone on here has had one apart and knows if all the parts are the same. I would guess that they are but I'm not sure because fortunately I've never had to tear one part. (knock wood).
FYI the 4840 also has a larger fuel tank than the 4640.

When they were new, was there much price difference between the two models if they were equipped the same?
