Gentlemen,

Here was the original post:

"Was hoping for some advice on an off topic problem...fuel issue I beleive. I was cutting grass for about 35-40 minutes w.out any problems, then the engine started to lower, raise, lower, raise, etc - this is while the throttle was in full position. I immediately put the choke to full position too and the engine leveled out...this lead me to beleive it was a fuel starving issue. The engine again, started wavering and I tried of combination of throttle/choke positions and she died on me. I did not try restarting bc it was getting dark so I got the push lawn-mower. The L118 is at the wkend place and I am back home. Was just wandering what initial thoughts you guys had and what I could do to get the ball rolling? Notes: There was 1/4 gas b4 i started and filled it w gas that is new. Fuel filter is about 1-2 yrs old Bought in 2005-2006 w no major problems Thank you guys, appreciate the help, tstex"

And the winner is, "it was vapor locked w plugged fuel cap". Can you believe it?? When i lift the seat, I pulled the cap and immediately saw debirs in it and thought to myself, "am I going to get off this cheaply".

As always, thanks for your help and wanted to pass on the info - I have also ordered 6 fuel filters bc the same ones fit both my L118 & JD 6X4 gator...clean air and fuel make things run much better...tstex

Great to hear you found the problem. Its always refreshing to fix something "cheaply" lol I have run into this situation many times.

Thanks Barry...I hope happens to me often is the "it was fixed cheaply" rather than just pluuged vent holes.
