As I've read, there are certain quirks about the power steering in these tractors. But I haven't come across this issue I'm having yet.
My 60 was having the usual issues of turning to the right but not to the left. I had someone replace the valve and it was fine for a while. Then it started getting very hard to turn to the left again. I worked on it myself and got it to work again but it would keep getting stiff after just a little bit of use. I took the steering valve off, cleaned it, replaced the gasket and bolts, and put it back together.
Now I can get it to steer perfect by loosening the bolts and hammering the valve lightly to slide it into place. When I tighten the bolts, the steering almost completely locks up again. As soon as I loosen the bolts slightly, it is fine. I was wondering if there should be shims for the valve or if anyone has torque settings for the bolts? Maybe I'm over tightening it? When I leave it loose, it continues to steer fine though it seeps fluid a bit.
