John Deere H Governor Removal

I am trying to remove the governor and fan shaft assembly on a 1941 JD Model H. I have all bolts removed and using a putty knife was able to break the gasket material all the way around it. I cannot get this thing to budge. I have tried using a small screw driver and chisel to pry it up but I am afraid of cracking the casting. Any suggestions?

I have the service manual and it simply says to remove the cap screws then remove governor and fan assembly as one unit.

Thanks,

Hmmmmm - For the governor housing I don't recall an oil line inside the crankcase that needs disconnected for removal.

I just had my governor housing off and there is no oil line inside. It is more than likely the dowel pins that are sticking. First time I took mine off it is was pretty tight. It is just sitting on there after the bolts are taken out so you can pry pretty hard.
