Old Paint on the mag

Most of hte time the mag was painted from the factory. Or even from an old paint job from the tractor's past. The way I normally remove paint is with a flat blade screwdriver using it as a scraper with the side of it. Then a fine wire brush in a die grinder to remove the remaining residue and flakes. The bakelite material may retain some color from the paint depending on what was used years ago when it got painted. To make it looke nice I sometimes paint them black and use something to plug the wire towers to keep the paint from getting in there.

Previous owner slap paint al over the tractor Including
The mag My 35 A. sill has a org black mag cover there is no paint on it

Mine was painted too . I took my mag off and wire wheeled it on the bench grinder then I used a polishing wheel and buffed it to a almost chrome like finish. Most people have a shinny exhaust pipe I got a shinny mag also.
