4240S steering

Neighbor has 4240S that steers hard and won't stay centered is there any place to start looking? He just purchased it recently and was sold as a 4250 with 6800 hours and broken tach cable! He likes the tractor if steering can be fixed we all told him to get his money back already so is it an easy fix? Thanks Greg

I would start with resealing the steer motor...not a bad job...

TimS, the 4240S is in herd of Deere (pics) on tractor talk he priced seal kit around $500 or motor about $2100. Thanks for the reply, Greg

4240S has 2 steering cylinders no motor.

Tx Jim, Thanks, he was looking at how much different the steering is from his 4230 and 4030. He is working on it for another farmer hoping for an easy fix! Thanks for all your help, we needed it on that 2650 its still going he rebuilt sycros and put in new trans pump and clutch. Your diagrams were much clearer than what he had. Thanks again. Greg
