4430 down ~250 rpm

All,
1974 4430 has high hours so my Dad had it set to run a max of ~2100 RPM. About a 100 RPM short of the PTO line on tach (2200). He did this just to take care of the older engine. I've left it like that for the last 4 years. We use fairly light plows in B1 or B2. Temp gauge usually runs 2-3 needles above straight up on hot afternoons. It was hot saturday, so as a precaution I used air hose to blow out radiator. Was plowing for about half an hour in 101 degree afternoon Saturday with 1630 disk 14ft with deep cone disks in lower gear A4. This is the first time using this heavier plow for me. Temp gauge edged up about "half way" between straight up and the start of red line. So I stopped, idled, and let it cool back to straight up and turned it off. Decided to wait for a cool morning and see how the temp would do with that kind of weather. Not sure if related, but two days later it was cool weather and I found out the tractor RPM was ~250 rpm short of where it had been before. Thought it might be fuel filters, so I changed them and the bowl/bowl filter. Some sediment, but nothing major. This did not help RPM at all as it was still running 1850 to 1900 RPM pulling plow and about 1950 with no load. I then blew out the air filter, it needed cleaning but not horrible so I don't think it will help.

Know the throttle cable can be adjusted, but before doing that want to understand what could cause the RPM drop. Hopefully its nothing serious.

Any ideas, why it would just loose those ~250 rpm all of the sudden?

Any guidance would be appreciated.

If this tractor is equipped with a cab the cab mounts if badly worn can cause control rod to change. I suggest to change length of rods by adjusting turnbuckle(parts key 23)
