Pull Type Hay Press or a Windrow Pickup Presses

I have what I have been told is a LUE Engine that goes onto a Pull Type Hay Press or a Windrow Pickup Presses (early Balers)late 30"s and on. Except for 1 photo that matches my unit - I just can not make any headway on the history, and a manual for this engine. Any help or direction? LUE Engine is what I was told it is, but the tag on it has been covered up by paint and I have not gotten to it yet. I am afraid that when I try to take off the paint to read the tag - I will loose all info except the Serial Numbers.

It is very likely you do have an LUE. The "E" designates the application which was the Ottumwa plant where the windrow press was made. The press should have several "E" part numbers on it as well. Mike

That sure looks like the model baler my dad had back in the forties. Took 2 men to shove the wires through the block that was dropped between the bales and then tie the wire. Bales were very heavy. Course I was a youngster (less then ten). Very dirty and itchy job sitting there for hours at a time. Hands all black from oil on the wire. The front wheel had broken off so going up hill the front end of the model A tractor would bob up and down. Memories.... Bill
