Strange Wheels on 4010

I was at an estate auction a week ago. There was a very nice 4010D that the owner had bought new in 62. I bidded up to $8000.00 (higher than I wanted to bid)and it sold for $8500.00. The strange thing about this tractor were these wheels. It has 15-5 x 38's on it. What's the deal with these wheels? Could it be, which I didn't measure 34" centers with extention clamps to put a 38" rim on?

Centers are for 34" rims. I saw an IH 806 a while ago and it had the same setup. The owner told me it came with 34's and he put 38's on it.

They are step up wedges to go from a 34" centre to a 38" rim.

M&W made these type of step ups to go from 34 to 38 .I like the correct castings or the true step up rim.Always wondered if they were strong enough but don't know of any problems

Try Gemplers. They had them in their catalog years back.

Now they make rims to do that and you use your original wedges.
