4020 rockshaft leak

4020 had a internal leak so I pulled the plug on the back and looked inside. you can see a steady stream of oil running down just to the right of the plug when the arms are all the way down. when the arms are up it sprays oil everywhere. so I pulled the rockshaft control housing and the back dowel pin had half a oring left and the backup ring was messed up. Could that be the cause of my leak. hate to go any further if that is what is causing my leak. Any thoughts on that. thank you

Yes, the o-ring and backup could very well be the leak. I would put it back together with the new rings and see if everything is fine. David G thinks you are talking about the draft shaft seals.

Would that oring and backup ring leak a stream when down and spray when arms are all the way up?

I think the seals associated with parts keys 30,31 & 36 are causing your leak. It's also possible 30 & 31 have too little clearance.

that housing looks different than the one I am working on. Mine is a side console.

Sorry for wrong photo. My crystal ball was covered in dust!

Is there an adjustment for the clearance you are speaking of? Or should I just replace the seals and put the housing back on?

(quoted from post at 20:52:30 07/27/14) Screw(parts key 2) adjusts RS control valve clearances. Screw is accessible by removing plug(parts key 25) in 2nd photo

what would be the correct setting for that screw?
