4020 winter work plan

The 4020 got a 12V conversion the year before, rebuilt engine last winter, I am thinking hydraulic checkout this winter.

Is there anything else a person should plan on if the transmission pump is changed and front pump rebuilt?

How does your steering work?
The reason I ask is that I have a 67 model and the steering needs attention as it sometimes steers slowly in one direction when first started and will steer to the left when going down the road, without warning but will immediately steer back straight.
Looking to get that fixed sometime???

If you are into the trans pump I would put pads on it. You are right there basically and why wait so you can come back in a few k hours when they are toasted and has brass and iron shavings in the main pump. A few years ago I had mine in and JD did pads, trans pump, replaced a broken piece etc. It had about 6400 hrs on it then. Be careful with the trans pump pickup tube o ring, my uncle's 4020 it got nicked when they put it together and it was sucking air immediately. The dealership was then sold to Sloans and they refused to honor the repair warranty so it stills sucks air and sounds horrible years later.
