Started it up to go and bale. Hyd fluid came up from somewhere around the gear shift lever. I turned it off and did not start it again. Sent it all the way back to the front of the baler. Any ideas? It was a lot of fluid . Thanks

yes my 2240 done that with a lot of pressure hit me tight between legs thankfully oil was cold had just started tractor.. there is a plug in that housing has to be replaced trip to j d service

Beside hyd pto control valve leaking it could also be hyd-hi-lo control valve leaking.

Thanks TX. If its either one, would it leak in both postions of the lever. Just trying to figure on how I can get it moved to work on it. Hoping if its the high low I could change lever and it would not leak so I can load it. Are those hard and expensive things to fix. I appreciate any advice you can share.

The plug GreenBlood refers to is parts key 12 The PN is M4224T. I think oil will leak out with engine running no matter where the control valve is setting.

Remove the 4 bolts to the floor plate and pull up the boots on the shift levers and look at the top of the Trans cover to see whats loose or missing. If you dont see anything. start tractor and see where leak is coming from with the floor plate off. There is a oil return line thats on right side that could have come loose.

The small hole that's where the fluid is coming from is in the top of the valve body, right where Part # 4 bolts down. Its a small hole looks like it goes straight down. Is this where the plastic plug goes. From the pic it looked to me like it went side ways. Thanks

It's been many yrs since I looked at the hi-lo/pto control housing on Mannheim tractor but I remember no hole pointing straight up. Maybe someone else can help you.
