John Deere 5020 with a Detroit?

Hello everybody. My brother recently stumbled upon a John
Deere 5020 wheatland with a Detroit motor in it on a trip out
west to a ranch picking up some calves. The owner says that it
was a 318 Detroit in it. They used it running the plow in the
wheat field up until a couple years ago when it was replaced
by a 8410 Deere. The owner is pretty confident it will run again
with a jump start and is thinking about selling it. My question
is, is the 318 Detroit the motor that Kinze put together as a
repower or is this another mechanics conversion? I know it's
hard to tell without pictures but I will try to get some posted for
everybody on here. Does anybody have a ballpark idea of
what this thing would be worth? My brother said the tinwork is
really straight on it and the wheatland fenders were in great
shape as well. I've always wanted a 5020 but never thought
about having one with a Detroit. Other than the good old
screaming Detroit, were they a pretty decent conversion? Just
curious, thank you everybody in advance for the help.

The 318 is an 8V71. Kinze put them in but I don't know that others didn't as well.
Don't know why anyone would want to drive a 5020 anymore but the Detroit is better than the Deere engine.

If you are wanting one for parades or shows they are fine.To use just too much noise.Value would depend on condition and tires. 5020s were over engineerd for the 140H.P. they produced and were underpowered. Detroit motors are usually oil leakers and run higher rpms than an inline6.IH V-8s sell high and are only good for shows. If it is not a true Kinze conversion its value would be lower. My neighbor bought one that had a Cummings but was not a Kinze for $5K.

The ideal re-engine job for a low cost hard pulling 5020. Is to swap in a 619. Lots of them laying around .
All 531's and early 619's need to have an oil pressure Murphy switch that will shut her down ASAP. The 5010/5020/6030 Oil pump drive gears were probably designed by the 1010/2010 engineering group .
Probably no oil pressure is what happened the factory engine.

Likely no oil pressure is what happened the factory engine and 619's were not to be had back then.
