70 clutch question

Working on my brother in laws 70 tractor clutch and have a
question about the clutch disks. Do the floating clutch disks
ride on the adjusting bolts or the pins? Previous owner had
them riding on the adjusting bolts. The reason for working on
it is because it does not want to disengage after you pull back
on the clutch handle. Would worn clutch dogs be part of the
problem? I did find the outer clutch disk stuck to the adjusting
plate.

Buckeye,

Only the pressure plate goes on the bolts, everything else on the pins.

Buckeye,

The clutch wanting to re-engage after you pull the lever is caused by operating pin in the pulley brake either being worn or not adjusted correctly.

This pin on my (1956) 70D was worn and causing the problem you describe. The pin was available as well as the shims to go with it a few years ago but be aware of the part no. change for the late 70D.

This is an early 70 and has the pin. I planned to replace it because the head of the pin is flattened out and will not go into the hole. Thanks for the info!
