My 4640 engine needs overhauling, would like to go with a reman engine, Worthington tractor parts has a long block for 5100 plus core. Has anyone used there engines? I was trying to find a Springfield reman engine, I have had good luck with these in the past with my IH tractors, but was unable to find anything for deere. I checked at the deere dealership, but was told by parts person, they don't sell reman engines for these anymore. They said if one would be available it would be around 17,000, but that was for the complete engine. I am getting antifreeze in oil and there is a lot of blow by on the engine, would rather go with a reman so it can be swapped out quicker, and also have some warranty. I have talked with a few mechanics and they said there is a good chance the block will need machining if it is cavitated too much. Are there other reman manufactures available that have a good reputation? Thanks for any help or information.
