Does anyone know where I can get crankshaft oil seals for my JD 60 tractor besides a JD shop? Used ones would be fine. JD wants $310 for the one on the left hand side.!!!

I think somebody looked up the wrong part, I replaced a 50 and 630 seals this spring and paid nothing like what you're saying, and they were from deere. Its just a cork ring. chris

I just happened to have my 630 parts book open to that page. 60 may be different, but part # A4224R which is called "Packing" is available in stock at my local dealer for $8.71. If you want the "Spacer, with packing" part # AA5409R, the price hops to $294.55. Can you re-use the "Spacer" and install new "Packing"? Again - my parts book is for the 630.

The "60" parts catalog shows the same A4224 rubber packing.

The nearby dealer who is BIG in the big combines and HUGE 4X4 tractors even has one is stock, so they shouldn"t be TOO hard to find!

It was the AA5409R that I wanted for the left side. Fortunately I found one for $65. I will also need the 2 for the right side, AA 5122 R, but they are reasonable at JD. The last guy that had this apart failed to put any of these seals back. You can imagine why I have it apart now! Thanks to all who responded to my question.

Are you telling us they put it together WITHOUT the spacer/oil slinger (in which the rubber "packing" resides) so you needed spacer and all?

Yup, that's right. I wondered why it was leaking so much oil on the garage floor, but I don't wonder anymore <g>. I now have been able to get the spacer & oil seal for the left side for $65, and the 2 spacer/seals for the right side for $66. Thanks for your help. Now I'm getting in to the cylinders to see how the pistons & rings are before sewing it all up again.
