5320 Jumpy Clutch

My 5320 has approx. 4500 hrs. and recently the clutch is getting really jumpy. It is either in or out without anything in between. Really jerky when picking up bales. It has the powereverser transmission. What could the problem be? Am I looking at a clutch replacement or something else? Thanks

I've forgotten, but doesn't the power reverser transmission use the power reverser hydraulic wet clutch as the traction clutch?

Just gave a quick check of the JD parts web site. Guess not, the separate dry traction clutch is still used with the power reverser transmission. Hmmmmm - picking up bales. Sounds like an opportunity to ride the clutch doing a lot of clutch slipping. Dry clutches don't like that. Could be that the clutch had become glazed. Try adjusting, but I'm thinking splitting the tractor and servicing the clutch may be in order.
