1946 A Model Carb

My uncle is trying to remove the carb from a 1946 A Model Deere. He can"t get the last 11/16 nut to come loose to remove it to get it repaired. He"s afraid of breaking it off, so he won"t put much torque on it. Someone told him it was a left hand thread. Are there any left hand threads in the carb, or is the nut just frozen?

Also, are there any other A Model enthusiasts out there near Stone City, IA that he could connect with?

Thanks,
Dennis

There are no left hand nuts on your carb. It"s just stuck. Soak it down with your favorite snake oil and tap on it lightly. Patience is good!

There are no 11/16 nuts on the carb... is he trying to remove the manifold???

The carb has four 3/8 bolts that hold it to the manifold and intake pipe.

The only thing requiring an 11/16" wrench is the incoming fuel line. It will be right hand thread. Holding the carburetor fitting with a 1/2" wrench will ease In removing the fitting. Your favorite penetrating oil should do the job in loosening the fuel line fitting. A light tapping on the fitting will help the penetrating oil get to where it's needed. Mike
