Been working on my 730d trying to get it to run the way it should. I have completely rebuilt the top end of the engine and have about 18 hours of lugging on it now to seat the rings. The tractor was running "funny" at anything other than idle. I would sometimes describe it as a miss and sometimes describe it as sounding like you were decellerating. I"ve made a lot of ground recently towards getting it dialed in. Transfer pump pressure is now correct and stable, found a small pinhole in one of the supply lines and made a new one, also found that the speed control spring was set entirely wrong which also made a huge difference. I ran the tractor this weekend with the pump cover off and noticed that at every plunge there was what seemed like oil coming out the back (crankshaft) side of the pumps. Is this normal? It did not smell like diesel. I"m not opposed to getting the pumps rebuilt if they need it, just trying to postpone of I can as I"ve had prices from $400 - $1,000 plus.
Seems to be running much better after these recent adjustments but i haven"t had a load on it yet to see if it misses.
Thanks
