3020 Load Shaft Seals

Anyone having problems with the seals on the 3pt lower links? Changed mine last fall complete with new shaft. The previous ones were in there for 8 years. The new ones started to leak last month from both sides at once almost, leak really good. Got new seals from JD and went to install them. They seem to be too small for the shaft. When I tried to fit them on the shaft, they would barely go over the tapered part at the end. Any more and they would distort the seal. When I took the old seals out, I noticed the rubber came out in two pieces. Never had problems before sliding an oil seal on a shaft. Any thoughts?....Ron

Ron: I did the shaft and seals in the 4030 when I bought it and worked out real good. Got the shaft and seals from Bolings. Do you have any side play in the wishbone? If there is you'll need to shim the slack out. Give me a call sometime and we'll talk it over. John.

Thanks for all the replies. Shimmed the yoke so snug that it didn't lower on the jack after I pulled the shaft out, had to pry it slightly with a screwdriver. Just can't remember the seals so tight on the shaft. Even left them in the sun for a while. Are the up dated seals from A&I the Boling ones or something else? Looked at the front pin holding the yoke to the tractor. A bit of play there but is that a roll pin driven into a blind hole? Nasty....Ron
