Does a 30 series w/o a 1000 pto still have it?

I have seen a couple 4030s now with a plug in the storage hole where the extra PTO is stored. Since 540 is achieved with a gear reduction set and 1000 is achieved directly, I assume any 30 series is capable of 1000, you just need the shaft. My guess is the original purchaser deleted the shaft to save $15 or so, and he didn't have any 1000 PTO equipment.

I need to know because my 3 point 8" Valby chipper is 1000 PTO and is rated up to 90 hp. I've had it on the 3020, but that chipper'll put the 3020 on it's knees with larger material. I've run it on my 4430, but am a little nervous that I'm over-powering it. This *shouldn't* be an issue because it's direct drive (no gearboxes), but still.

On deleting items - I know a guy who bought 2 4455s and deleted the 3 points. Saved $500 per tractor - and reduced their resale SIGNIFICANTLY. Seen a couple 4010 RCs that way, too

IIRC 4030 had no option for 1000 rpm pto shaft when ordered new. The gears are in there just put the correct 1000 rpm stub shaft in. BTDT on a 4030 I once owned.

4030"s came new with a 540 only, a 1000 only, or the dual speed 540/1000 pto"s. My 4030 had just the 540 rpm shaft. My 2510 has the dual shafts. I took the 2510 1000 rpm shaft and put it in the 4030. It fits properly and works just fine.
