John deere 510 hydraulics

Hi
I have a mid sixties john deere 510 farm tractor,made in Germany,with a model 37 loader
I would like to add down pressure to the loader and need to know if the hydraulics are open or closed center and what the flow rate might be

The system is open centre. If there is power steering, the hydraulic flow is only about 3 to 4 imperial gallons per minute at 2400 engine rpm for other hydraulic functions. If manual steering, there is about 6 imperial gallons per minute. Hope this helps....Ron

37 loader is a light duty loader, came from factory with only single acting lift cylinders, You will need to change to double acting cyl. Caution !!! ; loader mounts are not strong ! I would add reinforcement , from top of boom masts to front of tractor , to withstand stress of down force!!! ....

iirc the hydraulic pump is direct driven driven from the crankshaft snout. It's an open center gear pump with a relief valve built in.
Adding down pressure should be just a matter of changing out the hydraulic rams and adding hoses.

Iooks like I can be confident in using a open center valve.have one rated at 9 gpm so will use it,I do not have power steaering.
I am not to concerned about re enforcement as the bucket size will not change,just want to keep the bucket from diving into the ground and floating up when back dragging
