G oil pump pressure

Having problems get oil pressure to read on a 1947 G. All lines are tight. When turning tractor over the oil pressure guage doesn't read a thing. Put a new guage on and nothing changed. Checked old guage it works fine. An old Deere mechanic told us to loosen pressure screw and turn it over then readjust the screw. He said sometimes a piece of dirt gets lodged and that would free it. Tried that and still nothing. Took oil line off from governor to guage and oil is getting there. When turning motor over oil pumps out of fitting. We checked rod bearings and they getting oil. Can the oil pump or regulator go bad? Out of ideas. Anyone?

Oil pump drive coupling may be stripped or cracked, and barely turns pump, but doesn't hold tight enough to build pressure.

Haven't started it yet. Just turning over with plugs out. We have a JD 60 we turned over with oil line at governor to pressure guage off and it shot oil 5" straight up. When we tried the G it only came up about .5". It's a healthy amount coming out but not the pressure like when compared to the 60
