I have a gas 1520 that I am in the process of overhauling. When cleaning the liner bores in the block I noticed a hair line crack between the middle and rear liner right over the main bearing web. See attached photo. Will liner o'rings cover this or do I need to consider other options

Most people will say to replace the block and if you have the money that is an ok idea. But I have a 4020 that was cracked top and bottom between all liner holes that we overhauled 22 years ago and it has been fine so far.I was told to use a sealer made by Loctite it was either a 505 or a 515 that we bought at our CaseIH dealer. The sealer is made to flex and is a very good product.I was told if it lasted a week it would be good for 20 years.A bad fuel injecter caused us to replace one sleeve 10 years ago and we resealed it with no problem.I have used it on several others with cracks as well and have not had one that did not work yet.But if it does not work you will be out your labor and gaskets.Tom

I don't believe that's a crack. Cracks in that area should be running perpendicular to that line.

om did you just use the 515 on the crack where the liner seals ride or did you put it on the seals all the way around. Also did you put some over the crack that goes beween the adjacent liners. Chuck

rack is perpendicular and shows up in both liner bores right across from each other. The crack here writing is just to point out general area where crack is.
