49 B Clutch problems

I have torn down cleaned up and replaced the free facings. When i adjust the clutch i do not get a snap and it takes almost no preasure to disengage/engage the clutch. I have the IT manual and followed the directions. Just wondering what could be causing this and what parts i need to take a look at. I have not replaced the springs or taken apart the dogs. But am wondering about this. Looking for suggestions before I start throwing pats at this.

Thanks

If it is easy to engage and disengage, most likely your adjustment nuts are not tight enough. Engage the clutch and tighten the three nuts one castellation at a time. Operate the lever and see if the "snap" gets more noticeable. I believe you should need about 40 to 80 pounds of pressure to engage the clutch. Try this first before you tear it apart.
You might want to check the free travel in your crankshaft. Should be .005 to .010.

I will check the free travel. I have tightened the nuts all the way and it does not seem to make a difference. I have not replaced the springs, could that cause the issue. I would say with the nuts all the way in it is 25-30lbs at the most to engage/disengage the clutch

Make sure the landing position of the clutch lever is correct (when it's engaged). Mine had the same problem as yours, and adjusting that made it engage right.

The service manual is pretty exacting on the adjustment - when engaged, the end of the clutch lever should be about one hand away from the steering wheel. The procedure even includes a picture of a guy's hand between the clutch lever end and the steering wheel.
