Today I broke the scv housing on my 4430, the second valve of three. It broke because of hydraulic pressure not from outside impact. any ideas?? long story but my former hired man swapped from junk 4440 the third valve and plate onto my 4430 . never has been right but today we found out how not right. oh and this is now the second time around.thanks Paul

If you have an early 4430 it did not originally have the directional control valve in the mounting plate. There would not be a port drilled in the rockshaft valve housing for the return oil when using a one way cylinder. Take the plate off and there will be one more port/packing in the cover then there is on the rs valve. Use a greased packing in that port to mark the valve housing and drill a 1/2 inch hole in the housing being careful to not let the chips go in the hole. This will allow a return passage for the scv when the directional valve activates using a one way cylinder. The return side of the scv is not designed for standby pressure. I convert one or two a year for customers that cannot get a rake to lower with a one way cyl. Late 30 series and all 40 series have the directional valve from the factory.
