Adjusting idle 730d

Could someone please clarify the proper way to set
the idle on a 730d? I have read the service manual
and is is slightly confusing in this regard. In
section 40 it talks about adjusting by moving the
slotted adjuster under the dash. In the next
paragraph it talks about doing so by adjusting the
speed control rod in front of the governor housing.
In section 70 it seems to indicate that the speed
control rod has a different purpose. Just want to
get it right, my idle is to low and the tractor is
surging

Been years since I did one. I seem to remember a series of steps needed to be performed in a certain order to get all the linkage set properly.

The sequence is different for early and late 720's as well.

stop bolt under the hood turn it out until it at the speed you want!!
