Got every thing apart to remove the shifters, of course they are a mass of rust. I think the only way to get them out is to drain the oil and use a cutting torch to cut the rails. Any one have a better idea? Thanks

Use emery cloth to polish the shift rails. Take the cap screws and ajusters out on the left side and see if you can move the rails and shifters over an inch or so. That will disengauge the flat lock on the right end of the shifters. With that done you may be able to use vice grips on the rails to start twisting them. If they twist keep working they will come loose.

Was a product called navel jelly. It was a rust remover. They may still sell it. Might be worth a try. I would not torch unless you have replacments for sure.
