Thinking of putting fenders on my JD A. I'm tempted to put flat top fenders on because it would give a place to rest my arm while driving on rides. Thoughts?

I like the flat top style. This is my 1950 A with flat top fenders.

I believe the flat tops were the only option for a '44 A as clam shells didn't come out until '47 when late styled B,s did. A,s didn't get clam shells until they had square axles (1950 or '51 ) I think they look "older" which would be the right look for your '44 "A".

If I follow you right. I should be looking for flat top fenders for my A?
