John Deere compacts

JD has used Yanmar engines in compact tractors for a long time. Im not sure if Yanmar supplies any of the other components or not. Most of the compact tractors in the current lineup come out of the Augusta, GA factory.

I've had a lot of the compacts.....best model to date is the 990. it is 40 hp and gear driven.
Depends on what you're doing. I'm not a hydro personal for hard use. A lot depends on your needs....

Deere has a factory in Georgia that assembles the compacts. All diesels are Yanmar, until you get to the 2.4 liter that is a true Deere engine made in the USA. The hydro trans is made by Tuff Torq, that is what I have in my compact Deere. I do not think any diesel engine under 2.0 liter is made in the USA except Perkins..........I may be wrong on this statement.

I owned a JD 790 27hp gear tractor.
Good Tractor and the Yanmar Engine is
a well built engine and starts good in winter.
I believe the new version is a model 3030.
With Hydro or Gear option.

We bought a 01 4600 new. Bulletproof! 750 hrs. only problem was breaking valve stems off cutting brush. Starts well in cold weather, use block heater, I really baby it!
