Clutch stuck on JD 420

What suggestion does anyone have to try before splitting this tractor? Thanks

Dad"s 430 was stuck and an old JD service mgr. told him to get it rolling down a hill and with the tranny in high gear to pop the clutch. It worked.

Tie the clutch petal down and leave it for a week, if nothing, hold it down and have somebody pull you around in 4th gear, step on the brakes now and then.

I had a 420 clutch stick the day after I bought it at a farm auction.Messed with it for a week then decided to split it.It only took a couple hours to install a new clutch disc.It didn't have live pto,a lot easier to work on.

Our old 8N stuck every once in a while. Put it in high gear, tie the clutch down and have some one pull you (SLOWLY! <5 mph) in 5th gear while you bump the brakes occasionally. Figure 8's for a driving path seem to work a little better, for some reason.
