How difficult is it to tighten the clutch on a B? Thanks in advance.

Good advice from others - but I'd add that you should take a close look at all the linkages from the lever to the clutch while you're at it.

Those pivot points wear quite a bit and can get real sloppy. Over-sized pins are available.

That sloppiness can make the whole assembly feel like mush.

Obviously it won't have any effect on keeping the clutch from slipping, but it's nice to be able to feel the snap in and out so you can adjust the clutch itself properly.

If you have a dust cover take it off and take out the cotter pins out of the castle nuts. Turn each one the same amount and reinstall your pins. I turn mine 1 or 2 holes at a time until it's adjusted right . When the lever is pulled back there should be a pop.

If you can change a light bulb, you can do this. It is almost that simple.

However, I suggest you get an operators manual for your B. It will step you through this, and countless other important things, like changing oil, servicing the oil bath air filter etc. It is the best way to go...

good luck.

Thanks. I have a full set of manuals but was too lazy to look at them this afternoon. Pardon my sloth and thank you for giving truly good advice.

You are welcome. Glad you have the manuals... and the other comments here pretty well described how to adjust the clutch.

Before adjusting the 3 castle nuts make sure the clutch is in the engaged position when adjusting.
