Head Gasket Prep

I'm ready to put the head on my 1935 model D.

I've been combing through posts and from what I can tell, I can put the gasket on raw, no prep, and then put the head on, lead washers and torque away.

my head gasket has no difference on sides so it looks to have no particular orientation. so I think I can just put it together.

Please stop me if I'm making the wrong move here.

there doesn't seem to be a flat or ring side. one is a little more shiney than the other. and the ring is showing on both sides.

Seems to me as though if the manufacturer didn't include in the instructions which side is which and if all of the holes are symmetrical it probably doesn't make any difference which side is up.
