I need to rebuild the #1109600 starter on my 1945 H. Need brushes and bushings. I can find the brushes, but the bushings elude me... Does anyone know where I can find bushings? My local NAPA dealer says he "needs to see the starter." Sounds like he is going to use the "trial and error" method. Thanks...

The closest I came for a replacement for 1883730 is 820148. The dimensions are: .7525 ID x .814 OD x .722 L

820148 is replaced by 62-1701 from my suppliers.

CE (Commutator End) bushing Delco #1839345, is still available from DEERE as part # R40801, @ about $3.

Brushes, Delco # 1881838, DEERE # 1881838, are still available from DEERE as well @ about $3.50 each.

DE (Drive End) bushing, Delco # 1883730, seems to be NLA. I"ll try to post back with a generic part # for that one. (3/4" ID X 13/16" OD X 3/4" wide.)

I think for the most part on those if you have an assortment of starter bushings the trial and error method works the best. Done that many, many times myself.

Check and see if you do... I would rather buy from someone here, who knows what I need, than from someone who has to figure it out. Thanks.

I think the size that Bob gave would be for the center plate bushing. If you have a way to measure the shaft diameter and the od of the bushings get that to me. My mail is open.

That starter has only 2 bushings and no "nose cone".

I was surprised in that I couldn't find an aftermarket bushing for the "drive end" listed.

The brushes cross to Standard Ignition RX-52's.

ANY auto parts store should be able to cross that # to their brand... NAPA/Echlin, BWD, Niehoff, etc..

I am think the brush end would be a 4200 bushing in my assortment.

It's 6:15 and supper is on the table, so I'll get on it Wednesday, remove the old bushings and get back to you then. Gotta do my day job tomorrow. Jethro.
