My friend has a John deere B tractor runs good after u turn the gas off but when the gas is turned on the tractor wants to flood out what could be the problem .thanks scott

I found on a different tractor, I had the correct new float, new needle, new seat, etc., but the area for the float was so close, the float was touching the inside of the float chamber. Used a Dremel to smooth out the insides, and was real real careful how I exactly set the float. Fixed!

It's that the bowl vents are plugged. Had exactly the same problem on an A a few years back. Are you confident tearing the carb down?

It also could be that the float has a hole in it.. When you take the carb apart you will be able to tell if the float has a hole.

I had the same problen FBH44 had. My float was rubbing.I had a good float and needle and seat.I was set right . Took me a while to figure it out but it was my problem.

My A had the same issues. Put in a new float and over the winter water got into the bowl and cracked it. The petcock was frozen shut so it didn't get drained (since fixed). It would start and run then flood out.

Rebuilding the carb was well worth the money as it was all full of rust and gunk. If you have decent mechanical skills its a pretty simple job but as the old timers will tell you make sure all the vent holes are clear. I splurged for the deluxe kit which comes with everything but the body and float pretty much. The old beast runs a lot better after the rebuild. Cost ended up at about 150$ but much better than buying a complete rebuilt one.

Good luck
