820 clutch leaking oil, update

Ok, as I said in a previous post, my 2 cyl 820 is leaking oil at the clutch. I took it all apart and the oil slinger grooves were clean and the drain hole at the bottom is clear. The oil slinger is a bit worn down and the dust shield is a bit worn down as well. They don't seem to be available anywhere I look. What would my options be? Also, the clutch operating sleeve seems a bit loose on the pulley shaft. Would that cause leaks too? Is there a bushing in there or is that just machined to fit. Does a wee bit of play matter otherwise? Next question, my drive gear on the sliding gear shaft is a wee bit loose. It is held on by a castellated nut with a cotter pin. Does that mean its not supposed to be %100 tight? To me it seems that should be tight, but that is throwing me off and the manual doesn't say nothing about that. It just says to install drive gear... Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks
 
Wonder if your engine crankshaft oil seal is bad letting the tranny overfill the reduction cover with oil ?
 
I know the crankshaft is the shaft there. Im referring to the one that slides over that. the engine seal seams to be fine. Even if the seal is bad, the excess oil shouldn"t stay in the reduction cover but it will flow back in the tranny right?
 
Everything on these 2 cyl's can mix oil together and thus overfill it's area. It is possible for the tranny to overfill and the reduction cover go right up with it so far as to pour out around the belt pulley.
So a complete check of all the fluids and levels is the starting point.
 
The levels are within reason. engine oil is above the add mark and the tranny isn"t too full. I have it apart and it doesn"t seem to be leaking at the crankshaft seal.
 
the last I knew, the "tranny" and crankcase don"t mix oil. The oil in crankcase and oil in tranny are separate. If this is wrong" its a new one on me. reduction cover oil is going to reach the level were it runs back into crankcase via drain hole under main. The last I knew there was no crankshaft oil seal on belt pulley side of crankshaft.
 
The first reduction cover only has tranny oil in it. The only way for crankcase oil to access that cover is from the right main bearing seal leaking.

You sure you don't have your tranny over filled a bunch? If it only sprays a lot when the tractor is on a hill leaning toward that side that would indicate way too much tranny oil. Otherwise I'd say your crank seal is shot... or you have a good groove in the crank where the seal runs... or your oil pressure is jacked way up... or a combination of all of these.

When you say there's a castle nut with a cotter pin and a loose gear I'm not sure what you are looking at?

Far as the castle nuts and cotter pins goes yes they need to be loose-ish. They (3 of them) are your clutch adjustment. If you run them in you will not be able to release the clutch. It will move when in gear and you won't be able to stop it. The whole clutch assembly is held by the one bolt in the end of the crank.

If that gear that's a single big cast steel piece that includes the clutch drive plate is loose it needs tightened. Are you talking about that gear? It has two tapped holes in it to push it off the crank and it's about 4" diameter. That has a locking taper fit on the tapered splines at the end of the crank.

You have a pretty hefty operation ahead of you if you need to change the crank seal. Not terrible but quite a few pieces need to come off to get to it.

Im talking about the gear that gets turned by the crankshaft/clutch gear. Its the biggest gear in that cover. My tranny was a bit above the full plug but nowhere near what it would have to be for oil to come out at the pulley. There was a bit of a bend on the front edge of the dust cover. Im thinking maybe now that I straightened that, maybe I should clean it all up and see what it does now. It wasn"t a lot of oil but any little bit that was there got flung around and I had little oil specs all over.
