Dad wants to narrow up his 3020 to use on a 6 row cultivator. Everything has stayed set at 38 inch, even though we went 30 inch rows 6 years ago. With our hills, it's nicer they stay set out.
But last fall dad found a really nice JD 6 row cultivator and wants to cultivate again if he feels he needs to/wants too.
So, our 3020 has ROPS and canopy. Are we going to have to end up bolting the fenders to the ROPS? I sure hope not. But I know it will be get tight.
2 years ago I moved the cast centers to the inside spacing on the rim, as they were on the outside spacing, and I added 2 sets of wheel weights to it and didn't want them sticking out past the tire for going in and out of sheds. So when doing that I did move the rim on the axle, so at least that should be easy to do, since it was freed up recently.
Talking to one guy he said to reverse the fender mounting bracket so it puts the fender right next to the ROPS, and he then thought we could slide the tire in enough to narrow it up. I have looking in the book, and now you can reverse the dish on the rim too, to get it to the spacing you need, but the manual can be a bit confusing in that regard.
So anyone done it without have to bolt them to the ROPS? I have heard the front end will be the tough one to get slid in. I've put Kroil on it all winter as it sat in the shed, and hoping it goes easy, as not one to like to have to beat on stuff if I can avoid it. Thanks!
