ALRIGHT Thanks jdemeris, txJim, Bob another succesful story

Finally, between all the distractions and disturbances, my Stepdad having back surgery and chasing down parts, pump is repaired and works nice seems smoother and a little stronger, the start of the entire problem was a sheared stud that bolts to the crank pulley (2 on pulley 2 on pump clamp with a clamp that clamps around the 4 studs between the pump clamp and crank pulley see photo) it's been sheared for quite some time and it also messed up the hole thankful for helicoils, with jdemeris's steps and Txjims encouraging comment along with the Tech Book everything went back nicely, Thanks to all yawl and yesterdays tractor forum. jedemeris, sorry I've got such a southern accent, wait a moment no I'm not, Thanks guys

Thanks for the update. I'm glad all went well. Where do you live to have the Southern accent. I know what you mean by drawl as I have a Texas accent.

Patrick, I don't know how the all original restoration police would feel about this, but I modified my coupling bolts to try to prevent them from coming loose. I use longer bolts that go all the way through the coupling, and after tightening them to the max torque, I add a locknut to the extending bolt and torque it to max also. Finally I put another bolt through the center hole and put a locknut on it also, just be sure to keep that bolt length to the thickness of the nut only so that it stays roughly balanced.

I guess this is like using a belt and suspenders, and then still holding your britches up with one hand to be sure they don't fall down. I just got tired of them loosening up.

I also put longer bolts through the splined coupling shaft and added locknuts to them too. I haven't found anything loose or worn since I did this.

We spoke on the phone. To my "New York State" ears -
Mr.Potter sounded like he came from the deep south.
Nope. Texas.

I live in Cleburne, Texas about 30 miles south of Ft Worth and when JDemeris called that morning it was hot here and cold there and I did not want to switch weather but now come about August I'll switch weather without any hesitation.
