Hey all. I was able to make some good progress on the A yesterday. I took a series of pictures showing some of the things I had to do to get everything to fit. A brief explanation is as follows:
- Had to trim the fan blades approximately 1/2" to allow clearance between the radiator side curtains.
- The Styled breather pipe is quite a bit shorter than the Unstyled, so instead of making a new pipe, I figured I would just cut the one I had and use a piece of 1/2" rubber fuel line to connect them.
- The new throttle to governor rod was just a piece of 1/4" rod I used to fabricate one long enough as the styled rod was approximately 2" short.
- The upper water pipe is not directly in line with the unstyled radiator, so I used a 12" piece of hose to try to get as much flex and coverage as possible. There are a couple wrinkles but nothing major.
- The styled carb to air cleaner pipe is much shorter than the unstyled, so that was an easy fix. Just used a longer piece of joiner hose.
- Other than that, I just have to get the spark plug wires made up, pour in coolant, and pour in some fuel to see what we have got for noise. Also have to get a new exhaust pipe made. Should get to that next week after Easter. Hoping to be able to at least drive it down the road and back! (While dumping a few gallons of diesel in the rear end to clean it out).
Enjoy!
