M fan bearing type and seal?

I was just curious what type of bearing is in an M series fan. Actual ball bearings or is it just a lubricated sleeve and shaft? Has anyone tried putting their own seal on it instead of buying one of the new ones out there already sealed?

No bearings. Just a sleeve and shaft.
I posted the seal part number and detailed procedure on here a few yars back. Check archives.

Did a long search and found it! Thanks! I was hoping it was a sleeve, so I feel pretty good about just lubing it up and putting a seal on it. Kinda hard to mess that up.

You posted that you used JD part# AT12820 (That crosses over to a SKF seal 7443, for anyone elses information.)

I'm reposting what you said for others, cause it really was hard to find!

and "Check for clearance, clean and polish the shaft to remove burrs, cleanup the back of the hub really well and degrease, then I clean off the seal outside to bare metal and degrease,I then put a little grease in the seal lip so it has some lube, mix up some JB weld or similar product and put a little on the back of the seal edge or hub and carefully slide the seal on the shaft and press it into the epoxy if slow and carefull it seems to center itself on the shaft, then I build up some epoxy around the edge of the seal and hub intersection, leave it set shaft up in the air and dry. I have had good results with this simple fix. After dry or installed remove fan oil filler and have the hole horizontal and fill it up with engine oil. Which is actually half full. "

I have the radiator off, so it shouldn't be too hard to get the fan off and seal it up.

Thanks,
Brandon
