B leak from hydraulic pump

looking at the parts manual, it doesn't show any gaskets between the pump and the housing or the pump halves. I cleaned up the mating surfaces with a roloc pad and used RTV when I put it back together. would Ultra Copper work better? would it hurt anything to have the mating surfaces milled? trying for a 100% leak free tractor.

I think you created your own leak. I can not think of any brand of hydraulic pump that has a gasket between the sections or one that you use sealant on. Take it apart, get a piece of plate glass and place a fine sheet of 400 grit paper on the glass and lap the sections using a figure 8 motion. Use blueing (Dykem) to check your progress. My 2 cents worth. J.

You should do what JW suggested, and then use Loctite 515 sparingly. This fills up to 0.020 gaps. To much can glue the gears to the housing. Emery cloth only should be used on housings like this and never a rtv/silicone. chris good luck

my late model B has rubber seals that fit in the groove of the center pump gear housing both sides , sorta an oval o-ring , adv. from dealer , but i will say most of these pumps do leak couple drops here & there thats why most have oil all over the draw bar

lapped the housing halves and found a hairline crack the whole way through the half in between the outer half and the rear end housing, should I scrap it and find another?
