Just found in the Manual that this needs greased.

This looked like a drain plug to me, but i found out from the manual that this plug needs to be removed periodically and a grease fitting inserted to grease the front bearing. Not sure why they didn't just put a grease fitting in it, so it would be a little more obvious that it needs grease. Not sure my 630 has ever had it greased from talking to the previous owner.

Don't know why Deere didn't put a grease fitting there. I took the plug out on my 70 and put grease fitting there and left it. I bet the bearing had not seen grease for many years till I greased it.

I put a 1/8th pipe elbow and a 18 inch grease gun hose on that fitting and ran it under the radiator of my 60. It ended up by the generator. Put a grease fitting in the end and now I don"t have to pull the front hood off to grease it now.

Sounds like a good idea. It says in bold in the manual "Do Not Over Grease". Not sure what the right amount is, or what over greasing will cause.
