John Deere 70 Powr Trol Valve Housing Removal

Hello, I need to adjust one of the rockshaft arms so that they match on my JD 70. The tractor was restored so when they assembled it they must not have clocked them properly. I understand that this can be done by removing the Powr Trol valve housing to give access to the piston crank arm and the rockshaft connection. My question is: Can I simply drain the powr trol oil and remove the Powr Trol valve housing as one unit? or do I need to do any disassemly of the Power Trol valve unit?

Just remove the bolts holding it to the housing and remove, but there is a valve and spring at the bottom, don't loose, or forget to put them back in.

Hum ? I thought those were square on both ends maybe not ? But if so I don't see how they could be out of sync one may be twisted ? Either way inspection is in order. Like the other said just remove the bolts holding the valve box on and remove it. This should give the access needed.

Take note that ONE of those bolts has (or should have) a copper or aluminum washer on it. Should be on the bolt that is in the only hole that is open to the oil reservoir. Sticks in my mind it's teh top right but not certain without looking at one. Put it any place else & it will leak oil (or water in) when you put it back together.

Bought one that was that way! Never understood why it always leaked but worked perfectly until I removed the valve body one day.

Want to follow-up after the operation is complete. Everything went as planned. Everything is in great condition... just cant believe they didnt clock those shafts properly. For those that beleive its one shaft, I can confirm that there is a right and a left rock shaft both connected at the center to the hydraulic piston crank arm.
