just got the engine took down on the 1959 430 project I picked up last year looks like they did a top end piston rod bottom end rebuild and cam bearings 40 over ,it did not run long oil pump roll pin busted stuck the rear rod is what I found, kid was tellin truth it was just running just shut down. iv read this is common looks like they never cleaned out the oil screen,

so next is get the crank turned bore checked check the cam for out of round then rebuild, question is what would cause the roll pin to bust on the oil pump to cam gear,

I can't recall exactly what is is the Dubuque two cylinders had a funky way of routing lube oil to the top end of the engine.
May as well pull the cam and followers then have them re ground . Doesn't cost very much and it restores lift and duration.
Did anybody jam an old ball oil filter and make shift washers into the filter canister . Which may have blocked oil flow?
1-800-522-7448 for the service manual. The parts manual is online at the JD web site.
Which 430 chassis and what options?

The rear cam bushing hole is oriented at an angle on Dubuques to allow oiling on the top end. If the bushings were changed without the instructions from the service manual it will be in wrong 99.9 percent of the time.

rear cam bushing was in ok shape the front one was kind of bad one tappet in the rear is kind of hard to move rest have come out, the mains was not ground clean down but had some light scuffing, the rear rod was stuck but but the rod bearing still had the divits left in them
