Attention: JDemaris,TxJim,buickanddeere,roy suomi

This is reference to an original post made on 3/29/2014 "I need help on 300b hydraulic issues" First and foremost, I want to thank yawl for the help yawl gave me and JDemaris, yes I'm from Texas as you well know from the call "lol". The backhoe is back up and running. buickanddeere, you asked a question about what was on the screen and I didn't see it till this morning, the best description I can give for what was on the screen is if you take out the screen in your clothes dryer the lint on that is the closest thing that comes to mind first but very slimy, took a while to get it clean, there also appeared to be trash on it also like chewed up O rings, cedar twigs "it was purchased from Austin TX" etc...,that slimy material was by far the majority, when I got the screen out I left it open and filtered about 4Gls of the old fluid through an old shirt doubled and then poured that through a screened funnel to flush the transmission out. To me it appears who ever serviced this tractor did not take care in keeping the area clean as they removed and replaced the parts, There are signs of some significant work having been done on it, the oil pan, water pump and what appears to be a plate between the water pump and engine, steering wheel assembly which still leaks at the top large nut, and the plate on the right hand side that the foot pedal is suppose to be attached to directly below where the steering assembly is bolted, all of this has been removed and replaced, it does not appear to have ever been broken apart. We purchased this knowing there was going to be some hydraulic hose issues and he, (the tractor backhoe, my Brother in Law named him Chompy "Sir Chomps A lot" and it has stuck he's a city boy what can you expect) has not disappointed us. I'm making this post because of a comment that buickanddeere made and if this is a sign of potential problems that I can take care of I want to catch it know before it get's to expensive. Also, can yawl give me an idea of what this loader backhoe can potentially be worth, not restored but at least in good running condition and most if not all hoses replaced.

Thank yawl very much you've been a life saver

Forgot to ask, the original alternator has been replaced with Delco Remy alternator and the tach does not work nor is there a cable attached can one of yawl give me an idea where I can get a wiring diagram so I can rewire this and where does the tach cable connect to the tractor, I've kind of looked around it "not real hard yet" and I have not spotted where the cable goes from the tach.

Thanks

I saw a screen that looked similar that had a shop towel left in the transmission . It could be hydraulic cyl. Packings and / or brake Faceings . what ever it was has been run thru the gears to get it ground up . I would check the filter again in abt. 50 hrs. and perhaps the screen as well. If its brake faceings or cyl. packings it should show up rather quickly . There is also a screen in the front hyd. pump as well .

I found a large Tractor Supply plastic bag in one a couple years ago, had to pull the rock shaft to get it off the screen, it was bound so tight the screen would not come out...I have no idea how it got in there ???

The things people leave and in the strangest places also, that's why I make it a habit to check and recheck myself it takes a little longer but the time up front is well worth it compared to the potential cost down the road from damage caused because of carelessness.

No real clue on the tach cable as I don't have any backhoes. Possible sources would be the camshaft gear train particularly the backside of an idler gear in that arrangement at the front of the engine, injector pump, even the rear of the camshaft at the back of the engine.

My vote is for the shop towel as it even has the right color. Slime is likely just super pulverized shop towel fibers, bound to be a bit more hiding around so do check it again soon as already advised.
