M-420 series question

I have been working on my 420c and still don't
have it dialed in. I'm thinking this is electrical
issues.
Here is my question, I went back to my book to
check about timing it again and in my book it says
the flywheel is marked d/c-Spark and that is TDC
on Comp stroke #1 cylinder...

On my 420 it does not have this mark on flywheel.
I have a mark that Says RK and a straight line.
Which should be used for timing mark?

You likely have just the RK of the SPARK and the line under the words is your mark. IIRC that mark is for the spark at wide open throttle.
Should be around DC when turning by hand or a really slow idle.

I agree. I used a timing light on my MT and was able to get spark and the corresponding line in the window at full throttle and DC at low idle. It starts and runs great now!

Put some chalk ( your a teacher right you should have some laying around )on the mark to help it show up when running.

As i foggily recall, I brought those marks up to the little window and stuck something in there and cleaned then up a bit.
