Piston ring gaps on a B

I'm putting the new pistons and rings in to the cylinders. Should the gaps in the rings be staggered like vertical cylinders? Should the gap in the oil ring face up? How about the compression rings?

Stagger the end gaps.

Doubt it matters where they end up ?

I do also try to make the top compression ring gaps 180* apart which is as far apart as you can get them.
